The Celtic St. Pirmin community is an ecumenical, Christian community. Its objectives include the return to and cultivation of Celtic spirituality based on the characteristic traits of the Celtic Church and the Rule of Columban which is interpreted and meditated upon in a contemporary way. The brothers and sisters live with their families while connected to networks and regional convents.
One concrete goal is the promotion and celebration of the Celtic Christian liturgy whose mass book of the Celtic Apostolic Church has translated into the German language. In addition, the community supports personal study and spiritual training of its members and opens itself up for the undertaking of spiritual commissions in liturgy and spiritual guidance.
The namesake of our community is St. Pirmin (670 – 753). In the 8th century, he was a Celtic monk, missionary, monastery founder, abbot and bishop in southwestern Germany and thus had a connection to the Celtic Church. In honour of St. Pirmin and to emphasis the ecumenism St. Pirmin´s Dicta Pirminii is used as the community´s catechism (Incipit de singulis libris cannonnicis scarapsus).
